Accommodations – Assistive Technologies

Assistive technology is an area that continues to grow each year as technological advances develop. The Educational Access Center investigates some of these technologies, attempting to find alternatives and options for student to succeed in the classroom. Many of the tools we provide are readily available to the public. They come in a wide range. When we meet with students we attempt to find solutions to their challenges. We have introduced students to speech to text software (Dragon), text to speech (Kurzweil 3000 and Natural Reader), text magnification software (ZoomText), screen reader software (JAWS), one handed keyboards, etc. If you believe any of these tools might assist you, make sure to discuss your options with your Educational Access Coordinator.
